R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Carla Campos of Haltom High School reached the |
|
|
pinnacle of success by winning a gold medal at the 2025 University |
|
|
Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On February 14 and 15, Ms. Campos joined the other |
|
|
top high school wrestlers in Texas at the Berry Center in Cypress; |
|
|
she turned in a stellar performance in the 6A girls' 185-pound |
|
|
weight division, defeating her Byron P. Steele II High School |
|
|
opponent by fall in the semifinals to set up a title match showdown |
|
|
against the two-time defending state champion Rylee Ferranti of |
|
|
Klein Oak High School; with the state crown on the line, Ms. Campos |
|
|
recorded a 6-2 decision for the victory; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Campos has achieved great success over the |
|
|
course of her high school wrestling career, collecting three |
|
|
district championships, two regional crowns, and two state |
|
|
tournament medals; in addition to receiving All-American honors, |
|
|
she has twice been named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for Region |
|
|
1-6A and has been voted the District 4-6A Most Outstanding |
|
|
Wrestler; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By claiming a gold medal in the state's premier |
|
|
showcase for high school wrestlers, Carla Campos has ably |
|
|
represented her school and community, and she may indeed take |
|
|
justifiable pride in this exceptional accomplishment; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carla Campos on winning the 6A |
|
|
girls' 185-pound weight division at the 2025 UIL Wrestling State |
|
|
Tournament and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Campos as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
