R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is |
|
hosting its advocacy day at the Texas Capitol, ¡VIVA San Antonio!, |
|
on March 26, 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1894, the Greater San Antonio Chamber |
|
of Commerce has played a pivotal role in advancing economic growth, |
|
championing businesses, and fostering collaboration among |
|
industries, government entities, and community organizations; as |
|
the primary voice of business in the city, the chamber has mobilized |
|
its members to promote and drive important initiatives that benefit |
|
the community and address local challenges; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the course of its history, the chamber has |
|
assisted in the establishment of San Antonio's military |
|
installations and ensured adequate infrastructure to support the |
|
city's growth; in addition, the chamber brought the 1968 World's |
|
Fair to San Antonio, and it helped to develop the iconic River Walk |
|
and the South Texas Medical Center; the chamber also supported |
|
legislation to create Brooks City Base, and it was instrumental in |
|
the creation of such organizations as the Fiesta San Antonio |
|
Commission, San Antonio Sports, and BioMedSA; and |
|
WHEREAS, The San Antonio chamber holds the distinction of |
|
being the oldest and largest organization of its kind in South |
|
Texas, with approximately 1,600 members across various industries; |
|
it benefits from the able leadership of president and chief |
|
executive officer Jeff Webster and executive board chair Pat Frost, |
|
and it has received valuable contributions from VIVA co-chairs |
|
Krista Piferrer and Kevin Matula as well as from its numerous other |
|
board members, investors, ambassadors, community partners, and |
|
staff; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past 130 years, the Greater San Antonio |
|
Chamber of Commerce has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to |
|
building a stronger business network and community, and its ¡VIVA |
|
San Antonio! event offers a fitting opportunity for local leaders |
|
to share their priorities with state legislators and to collaborate |
|
on solutions that improve the quality of life in the region and |
|
throughout the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 26, 2025, as ¡VIVA San Antonio! |
|
Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting |
|
delegation. |
