R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Michael O'Briant is retiring as a counselor at Lone
  Star Middle School on June 11, 2025, drawing to a close an exemplary
  tenure with the San Angelo Independent School District that has
  spanned four decades; and
         WHEREAS, After receiving his bachelor's degree in education
  from Angelo State University, Mr. O'Briant joined San Angelo ISD in
  August 1985 as a fourth-grade teacher at Holiman Elementary School,
  and he later transferred to teach the same grade level at McGill
  Elementary School in the early 1990s; he completed his master's
  degree in school counseling in 1997, and he went on to work as a
  counselor at Day Elementary School and Fort Concho Elementary
  School before accepting a position at Lincoln Middle School, where
  he worked from 1999 to 2003; and
         WHEREAS, The following year, Mr. O'Briant became a counselor
  at Lone Star Middle School, then known as Lee Junior High School;
  over the course of his tenure, he has provided invaluable guidance
  to students dealing with a variety of challenges, and he has
  excelled in his responsibilities related to establishing and
  managing master schedules; he and his colleagues have earned the
  Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST)
  award from the Texas School Counselor Association for four
  consecutive years in recognition of their commitment to improving
  student achievement and development; moreover, he has been involved
  with several state and local counseling organizations, through
  which he has consistently advocated for students, families, and
  public education; and
         WHEREAS, Retirement will allow Mr. O'Briant to spend more
  time with his family, which includes his wife, Elizabeth, three
  children, Mitchell, Keller, and Cameron, a daughter-in-law,
  Callie, and two granddaughters, Rylee and Reese; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Michael O'Briant has made a
  profound and positive difference in the lives of countless young
  Texans, and he may take great pride in his exceptional record of
  achievement as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Michael O'Briant on his retirement
  from the San Angelo Independent School District and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. O'Briant as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
