R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 214Selena festival, presented by the Oak Cliff
  Cultural Center and Cima Arts, is taking place in Dallas on March
  27-30, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception a decade ago, 214Selena has
  brought together area residents to celebrate the life and legacy of
  musical legend and cultural icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez; this
  year, the event will feature activities such as a lotería night, art
  show, and vendor market with live music by Vanita Leo; in addition,
  the Texas Theatre will host a screening of the film Selena; and
         WHEREAS, 214Selena marks the anniversary of Selena's death on
  March 31, 1995, when she was tragically killed at the age of 23; a
  native Texan, she gained international acclaim for her unique blend
  of Tejano music with elements of other Latin genres and mainstream
  pop; she helped to foster greater acceptance of Latin music
  traditions in the United States, and her influence is still felt
  today among artists across the musical spectrum; and
         WHEREAS, Forever in the hearts of her fans, Selena continues
  to inspire innumerable people around the world, and this event
  allows Texans to express their enduring affection for the vibrant
  "Queen of Tejano" and her music; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 214Selena festival and extend to
  all those in attendance sincere best wishes for a meaningful and
  memorable event.
