R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the profound sense |
|
of sorrow felt by the family and friends of Ja'Liyah J'Niya |
|
Stevenson of Killeen, who tragically passed away on March 9, 2025, |
|
at the age of 20; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ja'Liyah Stevenson was born in West Memphis, |
|
Arkansas, on June 28, 2004, to Melanie Warren and Jonathan |
|
Stevenson, and she enjoyed the affection of three sisters, Janecia, |
|
Jayla, and Jada, and three brothers, Joshua, Jonathan, and Jaden; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Stevenson demonstrated an exceptional talent |
|
for both cheerleading and gymnastics, and she was recognized as a |
|
vibrant and spirited young woman with a bright future ahead of her; |
|
she had a presence that illuminated every room she entered, and she |
|
endeared herself to many people with her magnetic personality, her |
|
kind heart, and her infectious smile and laughter; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief, |
|
Ja'Liyah Stevenson was a ray of light in the lives of all those who |
|
held her dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will |
|
never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ja'Liyah J'Niya |
|
Stevenson and extend heartfelt condolences to her loved ones: to |
|
her mother, Melanie Warren; to her father, Jonathan Stevenson, and |
|
his wife, Evelyn; to her nephew, Ja'Mir Stevenson; to her |
|
grandmothers, Maxine Warren and Delia Stevenson; to her |
|
grandfather, Fred Jordan; to her best friend, Isaiah Graves; and to |
|
her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ja'Liyah |
|
Stevenson. |
