R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 100 Club of San Antonio is hosting its 52nd |
|
annual Heroes Luncheon on May 21, 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, This special event offers sponsors and attendees the |
|
opportunity to honor fallen first responders of the San Antonio |
|
community; at this year's luncheon, higher education scholarships |
|
will be presented to graduating high school seniors, including the |
|
children of two brave police officers who lost their lives, Robert |
|
"Bobby" Deckard Jr. and Joseph Anthony Cisneros Jr.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since 1973, the 100 Club of San Antonio has served |
|
the families of fallen local, state, and federal first responders |
|
as well as severely injured active-duty personnel and their |
|
families in Bexar County; a citizen-based nonprofit unaffiliated |
|
with any police, fire, or government agency, the association |
|
provides financial assistance, safety training, counseling, and |
|
mental health services; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 100 Club works to deliver funds to the first |
|
responder's family within 24 to 48 hours of their loved one's |
|
unexpected death to help with immediate expenses; the organization |
|
goes on to help the family and to place any dependent children into |
|
The 100 Club Survivor Fund, where they receive monthly annuity |
|
payments to assist with their education; and |
|
WHEREAS, Texans owe an immense debt of gratitude to the first |
|
responders who willingly place themselves in harm's way to protect |
|
and serve the public, and the 100 Club of San Antonio is to be |
|
commended for its efforts to support the families of these heroic |
|
men and women; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 52nd annual Heroes Luncheon of |
|
the 100 Club of San Antonio and extend to all those associated with |
|
the organization sincere appreciation for their worthy endeavors; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
