R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The African American Education Archives and History |
|
Program is honoring 12 distinguished Texans at its annual Hall of |
|
Fame Induction Ceremony/Luncheon in Dallas on April 12, 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 2002, AAEAHP is a collaborative effort |
|
among local educators and the African American Museum; the |
|
organization works to raise awareness of the African American |
|
educational experience in Dallas County, collect and preserve |
|
archival material, support students and young educators, and |
|
recognize outstanding individuals; since its inception, the |
|
organization has been responsible for numerous initiatives, among |
|
them the African American Education Hall of Fame, the Sankofa |
|
Children's Center at the African American Museum, oral history, |
|
historical archives, a scholarship program, and curriculum |
|
development; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Educators include |
|
Dr. Helen Benjamin, Cassandra Black, Robert Edison, Dr. Levatta |
|
Levels, Dr. Larry Lewis, Bertric Manning, Dora Wesley Morris, |
|
Cheryl Smith, Norma Wright, and the late Dr. Charles Matthews; in |
|
addition, Senator Royce West and Curtis King are being recognized |
|
with Presidential Awards; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their exemplary contributions, these |
|
visionaries have earned the respect and admiration of the education |
|
community, and their accomplishments have set an inspiring example |
|
for their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the 2025 African American |
|
Education Archives and History Program Hall of Fame Induction |
|
Ceremony honorees and extend to them sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the individuals as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
