R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of Gail Ann Boyan, who passed away on June 15, 2024, and
  her husband, William L. Boyan Jr., who passed away on September 29,
  2024; and
         WHEREAS, The couple met while attending Medford Junior High
  School in Medford, Massachusetts; they shared a rewarding marriage
  that spanned more than six decades, and they were blessed with 5
  children, Claudia, Craig, William, Scott, and Todd, and 11
  grandchildren, John, Hailey, Grace, Alessandra, Carly, Mia, Sofia,
  William, Scott, Rachel, and Jack; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Boyan grew up in Medford and went on to attend
  college at Harvard University; for 40 years, he was employed at John
  Hancock Life Insurance Company, where he eventually became
  president and chief operating officer; he was an avid
  philanthropist and a passionate supporter of many charities and
  organizations in Boston, and he served for 27 years on the board of
  trustees for Boston Children's Hospital; he led the board as its
  chair and at one time served as chief executive officer of the
  hospital, which established the William L. Boyan Award in honor of
  his contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Boyan further benefited the Boston School
  Committee through his involvement, serving as chair of the Boston
  Plan for Excellence for public schools; he also had the distinction
  of holding board memberships and other prominent positions with the
  State Street Master Funds, Old Mutual South Africa Master Trust,
  the National Alliance of Businessmen, and the Florida Atlantic
  University Lifelong Learning Society; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Medford, the former Gail Ann Nicholson
  attended Tufts University and moved with her husband to Nahant; she
  shared Mr. Boyan's affinity for community service and actively
  supported the work of the Nahant Arts Association, the Boston
  Children's Hospital Fund, the Hestia Fund, and other groups; she
  participated in educational pursuits at FAU and was involved with
  the institution's Lifelong Learning Society; and
         WHEREAS, Both Mr. and Mrs. Boyan were enthusiastic world
  travelers; they regularly headed south during the winter to Palm
  Beach Gardens, Florida, where they enjoyed boating, playing golf,
  and most of all spending time with friends and family; and
         WHEREAS, Although Bill and Gail Boyan are deeply missed, they
  have left their loved ones with a wealth of memories that will
  forever be cherished; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the lives of William L. Boyan
  Jr. and Gail Ann Boyan and extend deepest condolences to all who
  mourn their passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for their family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill and
  Gail Boyan.
