R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Original Donut Shop has been featured in "The |
|
|
Best Breakfast Tacos in San Antonio" list by Bon Appétit; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located on Fredericksburg Road, the restaurant was |
|
|
founded by Patrick Morris in 1954 under the name Hot Donuts, and it |
|
|
quickly gained popularity; during the early 1980s, the |
|
|
establishment built a kitchen, began serving breakfast tacos and |
|
|
Mexican food, and adopted its current name; it later added |
|
|
drive-thru lanes to keep up with demand; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the family-owned restaurant is a staple of |
|
|
the local dining scene, and it has earned the loyalty of residents |
|
|
and visitors alike with its welcoming atmosphere and distinctive |
|
|
menu featuring breakfast tacos and donuts; in addition, the |
|
|
establishment was highlighted in a Netflix series called Taco |
|
|
Chronicles; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated restaurants add to the |
|
|
prosperity and culinary diversity of the Lone Star State, and all |
|
|
those associated with the Original Donut Shop may take great pride |
|
|
in the high regard it has enjoyed in the San Antonio community for |
|
|
more than seven decades; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Original Donut Shop on being |
|
|
featured in "The Best Breakfast Tacos in San Antonio" list by Bon |
|
|
Appétit and extend to all those affiliated with the establishment |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
