R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Pursuit Center in Houston is celebrating the 75th |
|
anniversary of its founding in 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1950, the center was established by a group of |
|
parents who sought to improve the quality of life for their children |
|
with intellectual and developmental disabilities; since its |
|
inception, the nonprofit has provided services to countless |
|
individuals with special needs, empowering them to achieve |
|
independence and reach their full potential as engaged members of |
|
their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pursuit Center offers a holistic approach to support |
|
participants in all areas of their lives; the center's health and |
|
wellness services promote physical, mental, and emotional |
|
well-being through tailored behavioral supports and partnerships |
|
with health care organizations; moreover, the center's employment |
|
services program, PursuitJOBS, provides personalized career |
|
planning and job training to high school students and adults, and |
|
its residential services connect participants with a variety of |
|
housing options licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services |
|
Commission as well as other private housing models; the |
|
organization also offers recreational and educational programs to |
|
help participants develop crucial life skills and explore their |
|
interests; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past seven and a half decades, Pursuit |
|
Center has been an invaluable resource for Texans with intellectual |
|
and developmental disabilities, and it is indeed a pleasure to join |
|
in marking this significant milestone in its history; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pursuit |
|
Center and extend to all those affiliated with the organization |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|
work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
