R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Ganado High School football team earned the
  mantle of state champion by winning the 2024 University
  Interscholastic League 2A Division 1 state title game; and
         WHEREAS, The Indians began their journey to the championship
  by going 9-1 in the regular season and clinching the district title
  with an unblemished record; next delivering a dominant performance
  in the playoffs, they bested Skidmore-Tynan, Crawford, Refugio, and
  Marlin High Schools to reach the state semifinals; there, Ganado
  dispatched Joaquin High School 35-14 to secure a coveted berth in
  the state final; and
         WHEREAS, Ganado took the field against top-ranked Stamford
  High School at AT&T Stadium in Arlington; the Indians held a
  seven-point advantage at halftime and led by the same margin going
  into the final frame; with the game knotted at 21-all at the end of
  regulation, Ganado headed for overtime; a touchdown run put the
  Indians ahead in the first OT, and their opponent then responded
  with a scoring throw, tying the contest at 28-28; a scoreless second
  OT set the stage for an exciting finish in the third extra period to
  be determined by two-point conversion tries; a completed pass again
  put Ganado in the lead, and with the title on the line, the team
  intercepted a pass to seal the win; with the 30-28 victory, Ganado
  claimed the first state championship in program history and capped
  the year with an outstanding 15-1 record; and
         WHEREAS, Bryce Ullman was named the title game's Offensive
  Most Valuable Player after accounting for three touchdowns, and
  Defensive MVP Cain Hayden collected three tackles and two
  interceptions; over the course of their campaign, the Indians
  received valuable contributions from each member of the roster, and
  these determined student-athletes benefited from the direction of
  head coach Josh Ervin and his assistant coaches; and
         WHEREAS, Through countless hours of hard work and an
  unwavering commitment to excellence, the Ganado Indians realized
  their season-long goal of becoming state champions, and they will
  treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their
  lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Ganado High School football
  team on winning the 2024 UIL 2A Division 1 state championship and
  extend to all those associated with the squad sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
