R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The State of Texas and the Province of Québec in
  Canada share a deep and enduring friendship rooted in mutual values
  and strong economic ties; and
         WHEREAS, Boasting the second-largest GDP in the United
  States, Texas is Québec's top commercial partner in the nation,
  with major economic hubs in Houston, Dallas, and Austin; the state
  also serves as one of the province's fastest-growing markets,
  particularly in sectors such as aerospace, energy, biomedical, IT
  and artificial intelligence, and creative industries; in addition,
  Canada is the state's second-largest trading partner, and in 2022,
  trade between Texas and Canada totaled $71.3 billion; and
         WHEREAS, The Québec Government Office in Houston works to
  promote the province's interests throughout the South Central
  region of the United States, which includes Texas, Louisiana,
  Oklahoma, and Arkansas; the office supports the areas of business,
  investment, government institutions, education, culture, the
  advancement of the French language, and the Francophonie; and
         WHEREAS, In April 2025, Québec's minister for the economy,
  Christopher Skeete, met with state leaders at the Texas Capitol and
  the offices of Secretary of State Jane Nelson and Governor Greg
  Abbott; and
         WHEREAS, Texas and Québec have demonstrated a steadfast
  commitment to promoting innovation and prosperity, and they have
  benefited immeasurably from their vibrant partnership; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the longstanding relationship between the
  Province of Québec and the State of Texas and express support for
  deepening cooperation in areas of shared interest.
