R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Corrections Workers Day is taking place on May 6, |
|
|
2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Committed to protecting the safety of all Texans, |
|
|
highly-trained law enforcement officers maintain order in jails, |
|
|
prisons, and local correctional facilities while assisting adults |
|
|
and juveniles who are undergoing rehabilitation, and they also |
|
|
ensure that court orders are enforced; other employees also provide |
|
|
critical support within the correctional system, including |
|
|
administrators, chaplains, nurses, social workers, and teachers; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Balancing a demanding career in an environment where |
|
|
the threat of violence is always present, correctional |
|
|
professionals endure physical and emotional demands every day; |
|
|
moreover, the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of |
|
|
duty have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of |
|
|
our communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These dedicated and courageous Texans play a key |
|
|
role in the criminal justice system, and it is indeed fitting to |
|
|
recognize their service and their many contributions to society; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Corrections Workers |
|
|
Day and commend these officers and employees for their vital work. |
