R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Salado High School boys' soccer team closed out |
|
an unforgettable year by winning the 2025 University |
|
Interscholastic League 4A Division 1 state championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following an impressive showing during the regular |
|
season, the Eagles continued to excel in the playoffs, besting |
|
China Spring, Houston Fort Bend Willowridge, and Navasota High |
|
Schools to reach the regional final; next posting a 2-1 defeat over |
|
Lumberton High School, Salado earned its inaugural trip to the |
|
state tournament; and |
|
WHEREAS, After advancing to the title game due to a forfeit, |
|
Salado battled Fort Worth Castleberry High School for the state |
|
crown on April 10 at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown; finding |
|
themselves trailing at halftime and then late in the final period, |
|
the Eagles demonstrated tremendous resolve, netting a clutch goal |
|
to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime; the Eagles struck quickly |
|
in the extra period, knocking in the go-ahead goal and sealing the |
|
outcome on the strength of their defense; triumphing by the final |
|
score of 3-2, Salado claimed the first state championship in |
|
program history; and |
|
WHEREAS, Salado was led by Luke Anderson, the championship |
|
game Most Valuable Player who was joined by Hughston Taggart, Caine |
|
Cruddas, Devonte Foster, and Luke Munson on the All-Tournament |
|
Team; the Eagles also received valuable contributions during their |
|
campaign from the other members of the roster: Cole Cooley, Gabriel |
|
Johnson, Davis Kasper, Brody Delukie, Gabriel Merriman, Kyler |
|
Stock, Alejandro Delima, Brayden Dildine, Daniel Anderson, Otto |
|
Sitz, Damonte Foster, Johnny Anderson, Cole Foster, Owen Stone, |
|
Ryley White, Oscar Arango, Peyton Bivens, Valente Hernandez, |
|
Lincoln Hossfeld, and Richard McCoin; these talented |
|
student-athletes were ably directed by head coach Jared Cruddas and |
|
assistant coaches Scott Bates, Annie Ewton, and Matthew |
|
Figlestahler; and |
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the |
|
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering |
|
commitment to excellence, and the Salado Eagles will treasure the |
|
memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Salado High School boys' soccer |
|
team on winning the 2025 UIL 4A Division 1 state championship and |
|
extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
