R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mendell D. Morgan Jr. is concluding more than a |
|
decade of service as a member of the Live Oak City Council in May |
|
2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Morgan was first elected to the council in 2014 |
|
as the Place 1 representative; throughout his time in office, he has |
|
played an important role in enacting local legislation, adopting |
|
budgets, and determining city policies; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Morgan has made his home in Live |
|
Oak since 1975; he is currently the director of development for the |
|
El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde, and prior to that role, he |
|
served for 33 years as an assistant professor and librarian at the |
|
University of the Incarnate Word, where he is now dean emeritus; in |
|
2024, he was named the Librarian of the Year by the Texas Library |
|
Association; active in his community, he serves with the Kiwanis |
|
Club of the Greater Randolph Area and the Humane Society of Live |
|
Oak, and he is a valued member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to |
|
good governance, Mendell Morgan has contributed immeasurably to his |
|
community, and in so doing, he has earned the admiration and |
|
appreciation of his fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mendell D. Morgan Jr. on his |
|
retirement from the Live Oak City Council and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Morgan as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
