R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has ably served her fellow Texans as |
|
a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu |
|
during the 89th Legislative Session; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Reynolds has shared her |
|
valuable knowledge with the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee |
|
and earned the appreciation of her colleagues for her commitment, |
|
fierce advocacy, and sense of humor; in addition to gaining |
|
valuable experience in the field of public service, she has learned |
|
more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens |
|
of the Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Reynolds plans to graduate in May 2026 from the |
|
Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where |
|
she is vice president of the Black Law Students Association and |
|
president of the Civil Rights Law Society; she is an alumna of the |
|
University of California, Santa Cruz and has studied at the |
|
University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, Barbados, the |
|
University of Ghana, and the University of the Western Cape; while |
|
attending UCSC, she was recognized as the 2017 Cowell College |
|
Student Leader of the Year and was president of the Black Student |
|
Union and the university's chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; |
|
over the years, she has served as a client advocate for the Harris |
|
County Public Defender's Office, special education teacher at |
|
Raleigh-Egypt High School as part of Teach for America, chair of |
|
Destination Higher Education, and immigration and abolition pillar |
|
lead at Social Justice Solutions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has performed her duties as a |
|
legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Imari Reynolds for her service as a |
|
legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her |
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
