R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Elaine Stokes has distinguished herself in her |
|
responsibilities as a legislative aide in the office of State |
|
Representative Gene Wu during the 89th Legislative Session; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mrs. Stokes has provided |
|
vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |
|
in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public |
|
service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the |
|
issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; during her time in |
|
the office, she oversaw the representative's work in the |
|
Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice, tracked legislation, and |
|
collaborated with nonprofit organizations to procure information |
|
vital to member concerns; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Stokes is completing a master's degree in |
|
educational leadership and policy at The University of Texas at |
|
Austin, and she plans to begin her pursuit of a doctorate at the |
|
Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in fall 2025; she holds a |
|
bachelor's degree from the college of engineering at Texas A&M |
|
University, and she previously worked as a mathematics teacher at |
|
both Leander High School and Crockett High School; passionate about |
|
the issue of juvenile justice, she has also served as a volunteer |
|
professor with the Texas Prison Education Initiative, as an intern |
|
with the Austin Independent School District Research Department, |
|
and as a data analyst for the Prison and Jail Innovation Lab; and |
|
WHEREAS, Elaine Stokes has performed her duties as a |
|
legislative aide with great skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Elaine Stokes for her outstanding |
|
service as a legislative aide in the office of State Representative |
|
Gene Wu and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Stokes as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
