R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
|
a close with the passing of Guerry Legrande Hahn Sr. of Anahuac on |
|
|
March 10, 2025, at the age of 96; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Guerry Hahn was born in Houston on November 15, |
|
|
1928, to Laura Mae Guerry Hahn and Guy Connie Hahn, and he grew up |
|
|
with the companionship of nine siblings, Douglas, Glen, Charles, |
|
|
Guy, Marjorie, Dorothy, Lucille, Beverly, and Gwendolyn; he was a |
|
|
descendant of Joseph Ehlinger, who fought in the Battle of San |
|
|
Jacinto, and as a boy, he was selected to place a wreath on the steps |
|
|
of the San Jacinto Monument when it first opened; in addition, he |
|
|
attained the rank of Eagle Scout; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Hahn served |
|
|
in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, and he exemplified the |
|
|
highest ideals of the armed forces; in recognition of his |
|
|
outstanding military service, he was invited to participate in an |
|
|
Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in April 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hahn enjoyed a rewarding career as an engineer |
|
|
at Cameron Iron Works, where he earned the respect and admiration of |
|
|
his colleagues for his skill and professionalism; an avid |
|
|
outdoorsman, he later established a fishing guide business, Gold |
|
|
Spoon Guide Service, which he operated alongside his son; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, Mr. Hahn shared many |
|
|
happy years with his wife, Jessie Bea Hahn, before her passing; he |
|
|
took great pride in their children, Leighanne, Sherri Lynn, the |
|
|
late Guerry Legrande Hahn Jr., and the late Brenda Rene' Sloan, and |
|
|
over the years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|
|
include 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 |
|
|
great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While the passing of Guerry Hahn brings great |
|
|
sadness to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
|
|
be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Guerry Legrande |
|
|
Hahn Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to his relatives and many |
|
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Guerry |
|
|
Hahn. |
