R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez Velasquez of Hickey Elementary School |
|
|
has been nominated for the 2025 Plano Independent School District |
|
|
Elementary Teacher of the Year award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|
|
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|
|
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|
|
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Gómez is the fourth-grade bilingual teacher at |
|
|
Hickey Elementary; a native of Honduras, she graduated from the |
|
|
University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in curriculum and |
|
|
instruction with a specialization in bilingual education; she also |
|
|
holds certifications in bilingual and early childhood through |
|
|
sixth-grade education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez exemplifies the passion, |
|
|
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|
|
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|
|
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Adalixa Gómez Velasquez on her |
|
|
nomination for the 2025 Plano Independent School District |
|
|
Elementary Teacher of the Year award and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Gómez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
