R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Christian Gbaranen Birabil, an esteemed |
|
|
neuroscientist and friend to many, passed away on March 3, 2025, at |
|
|
the age of 69; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Nathaniel and Elinah Birabil, Christian |
|
|
Birabil was born in the Gokana town of Barako in Rivers State, |
|
|
Nigeria, on March 22, 1955; he grew up with the companionship of |
|
|
five siblings, Mary, Barine, Nduki, Bariep, and Mene; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Birabil enjoyed a rewarding career as a |
|
|
neuroscientist, and he worked at The University of Texas |
|
|
Southwestern Medical Center for many years before his retirement in |
|
|
2011; he left an indelible impact in his field through his |
|
|
contributions to biomedical research, and his publications |
|
|
continue to resonate in the scientific community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Birabil took |
|
|
great pride in his daughter, former State Representative Lorraine |
|
|
Burata Birabil, and he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family |
|
|
two grandchildren, Natalia and Nathaniel; his many hobbies included |
|
|
playing tennis, cooking, and gardening; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Christian Birabil lived a life that was rich in |
|
|
personal and professional achievements, and he will forever be a |
|
|
source of inspiration to those he left behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Christian Gbaranen |
|
|
Birabil and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: |
|
|
to his daughter, the Honorable Lorraine Burata Birabil; to his |
|
|
son-in-law, Joseph Amyson; to his grandchildren, Natalia Iyabo |
|
|
Kilsi and Nathaniel Kiele Olawale Birabil-Amusan; to his siblings, |
|
|
Mary, Barine, Nduki, and Bariep; and to his other relatives and many |
|
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christian |
|
|
Birabil. |
