R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Christian Gbaranen Birabil, an esteemed
  neuroscientist and friend to many, passed away on March 3, 2025, at
  the age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Nathaniel and Elinah Birabil, Christian
  Birabil was born in the Gokana town of Barako in Rivers State,
  Nigeria, on March 22, 1955; he grew up with the companionship of
  five siblings, Mary, Barine, Nduki, Bariep, and Mene; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Birabil enjoyed a rewarding career as a
  neuroscientist, and he worked at The University of Texas
  Southwestern Medical Center for many years before his retirement in
  2011; he left an indelible impact in his field through his
  contributions to biomedical research, and his publications
  continue to resonate in the scientific community; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Birabil took
  great pride in his daughter, former State Representative Lorraine
  Burata Birabil, and he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family
  two grandchildren, Natalia and Nathaniel; his many hobbies included
  playing tennis, cooking, and gardening; and
         WHEREAS, Christian Birabil lived a life that was rich in
  personal and professional achievements, and he will forever be a
  source of inspiration to those he left behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Christian Gbaranen
  Birabil and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family:
  to his daughter, the Honorable Lorraine Burata Birabil; to his
  son-in-law, Joseph Amyson; to his grandchildren, Natalia Iyabo
  Kilsi and Nathaniel Kiele Olawale Birabil-Amusan; to his siblings,
  Mary, Barine, Nduki, and Bariep; and to his other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christian
  Birabil.
