R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Dedra Frazier has been named the 2025 Rural |
|
Business Owner of the Year by the Small Business Administration |
|
Houston District Office; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, SBA and SCORE cohost National Small |
|
Business Week to recognize small businesses across the United |
|
States for their contributions to the economy; during the event, |
|
the district winners are honored during an awards luncheon, and |
|
Dr. Frazier was selected in recognition of her outstanding work as |
|
the owner of Psychology Works; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, |
|
Dr. Frazier earned a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, and she is a |
|
licensed psychologist and licensed specialist in school |
|
psychology; prior to embarking on her career in private practice, |
|
she worked for several public school systems in Texas, and in 2014, |
|
she returned to Brazoria County and opened Psychology Works, where |
|
she and her staff provide testing and therapy services for people of |
|
all ages; she has a special interest in working with youth, as well |
|
as those in service professions such as law enforcement, and she |
|
also evaluates youth for the Brazoria County and Galveston County |
|
Juvenile Detention Centers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in the community, Dr. Frazier has given |
|
generously of her time to benefit numerous organizations, including |
|
the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce, the Brazoria County |
|
Alliance for Children, the United Way, the Lake Jackson Police |
|
Advisory Committee, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.; in |
|
addition, she has served on several panels at Brazosport College |
|
concerning mental and emotional health, and she has also |
|
facilitated stress management training for local police |
|
departments; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her hard work and able leadership, Dedra |
|
Frazier has furthered the success of Psychology Works and |
|
contributed to the Brazoria County business community, and she is |
|
indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Dedra Frazier on her selection |
|
as the 2025 Rural Business Owner of the Year by the Small Business |
|
Administration Houston District Office and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Frazier as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
