|
WHEREAS, The first annual El Rey del Río: Anzaldúas BBQ |
|
|
Cookoff is taking place in the fall of 2025 in Mission; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by Champions Barbecue Alliance as one of |
|
|
the organization's state championship cook-offs, this premier |
|
|
competition draws accomplished pitmasters from across Texas who |
|
|
strive to create the tastiest dishes in several different |
|
|
categories, including fajitas, ribs, and chicken; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Organized by Hidalgo County commissioner Everardo |
|
|
"Ever" Villarreal, the contest not only highlights the art of |
|
|
barbecue but also supports local tourism by showcasing Anzaldúas |
|
|
Park; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, El Rey del |
|
|
Río: Anzaldúas BBQ Cookoff is a fitting celebration of the |
|
|
delectable fare that is integral to the culture of the Lone Star |
|
|
State, and it is sure to become a beloved South Texas tradition; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the first annual El Rey del |
|
|
Río: Anzaldúas BBQ Cookoff and extend to the organizers and |
|
|
participants sincere best wishes for a memorable and successful |
|
|
event. |
