R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on |
|
March 30, 2025, with the passing of Arthur Teneyuca Moreno of |
|
Austin at the age of 80; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Geronima and Amalio Moreno, Art Moreno |
|
was born on May 17, 1944, and he grew up on the south side of San |
|
Antonio; after graduating from Harlandale High School, he joined |
|
the U.S. Navy, circumnavigating the globe three times during his |
|
four years of dedicated service; he then attended St. Mary's |
|
University, where he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and |
|
voter registration advocacy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in human resources, |
|
Mr. Moreno worked for four administrations of Texas governors, the |
|
Texas General Land Office, and the Texas Department of Health; |
|
active in his community, he was a charter member of the Greater |
|
Southwest Optimist Club and a founder of the National Hispanic |
|
Institute; in his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to Tejano |
|
music; and |
|
WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Moreno took great pride in his |
|
cherished family; he shared a rewarding marriage of 52 years with |
|
his wife, Gloria, and he was a devoted father to their three |
|
daughters, Leticia, Victoria, and Gabriela; over the years, he |
|
became a loving "Pipo" to eight grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the passing of Art Moreno brings great sadness |
|
to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
|
be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Arthur Teneyuca |
|
Moreno and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: |
|
to his wife, Gloria Mayo-Moreno; to his daughters, Leticia |
|
Caballero and her husband, Frank, Victoria Herrera and her husband, |
|
Jorge, and Gabriela Saenz and her husband, Aaron; to his |
|
grandchildren, Frankie, Lucas, and Sara Caballero, Ilan, |
|
Alejandra, and Carolina Herrera, and Mateo and Tomas Saenz; to |
|
Maryanne Serna, Joanne Cavazos, Rosalinda Garcia, and Irma Moreno; |
|
and to his numerous nephews, nieces, and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Art Moreno. |
