R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Amanda Burch has been named a recipient of a |
|
2025 Distinguished Alumni Award by the Killeen Independent School |
|
District Alumni Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the alumni association recognizes |
|
Killeen ISD graduates who have contributed significantly to their |
|
communities or professions and who serve as inspiring role models |
|
for future generations; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 1994 graduate of Ellison High School, Judge Burch |
|
earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Texas Tech University |
|
in 1998 and a law degree with honors from the Texas Tech University |
|
School of Law in 2001; and |
|
WHEREAS, Judge Burch subsequently began her legal career as |
|
an associate with Gardere Wynne Sewell in Dallas, and she went on to |
|
serve as an assistant attorney general and special assistant United |
|
States attorney with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas |
|
before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern |
|
District of Texas in 2008; on August 1, 2024, she was sworn in to |
|
serve as a U.S. magistrate judge for the United States District |
|
Court, Northern District of Texas, Lubbock Division; active in her |
|
professional community, she is a member of the State Bar of Texas |
|
and the Lubbock Area Bar Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a |
|
source of great pride to all those associated with Killeen ISD, and |
|
Amanda Burch is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Judge Amanda Burch on her receipt |
|
of a 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Killeen Independent |
|
School District Alumni Association and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Judge Burch as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
