R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Galveston College softball team furthered its |
|
|
record of success by capturing a share of the 2025 National Junior |
|
|
College Athletic Association Division I Region 14 South Conference |
|
|
championship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The cochampion Whitecaps secured their third |
|
|
consecutive regular-season title in dominant fashion, dropping |
|
|
only five games against their conference rivals and closing out the |
|
|
regular season with an impressive ledger of 30 wins and 12 losses; |
|
|
with their performance, the Galveston players earned the No. 2 seed |
|
|
for the regional tournament in Bossier City, Louisiana; there, the |
|
|
defending tournament champion Whitecaps will launch their bid for a |
|
|
return trip to the NJCAA Division I Softball World Series; the squad |
|
|
clinched a fifth-place finish in the 2024 national competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Whitecaps have received essential contributions |
|
|
throughout the year from each member of the roster: Brynn Smith, |
|
|
Halle Cordova, Sienna Voogt, Gabby Barnes, Aubrey Gonzales, Brianna |
|
|
Parent, Amiya Villanueva, Alayna Davis, Jordyn Comer, Maddie Moore, |
|
|
Brynn Glidewell, Natalie Noriega, Raegan Johnson, Breigh Houser, |
|
|
Paeden Vincik, Bailey Kee, Ella Lowe, Haylie Alkire, Carmen DeLeon, |
|
|
Cady Bowyer, Leila Ludwig, Jenna Johnston, Abigail Moreno, Sarenity |
|
|
Padilla, and Riley Riordan; the team is ably guided by head coach |
|
|
Kelly Raines and assistant coach Rome McNary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a conference championship represents the |
|
|
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, and the Galveston College Whitecaps may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on this outstanding achievement; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Galveston College softball |
|
|
team on claiming the 2025 NJCAA Division I Region 14 South |
|
|
Conference cochampionship and extend to the players, coaches, and |
|
|
staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
