R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' soccer team from Marcus High School in
  Flower Mound furthered its tradition of excellence by winning the
  2025 University Interscholastic League 6A Division 2 state
  championship; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Marauders' journey to the title began with
  an impressive regular-season run in which they clinched the
  district championship; buoyed by their senior leadership, the
  Marcus players surged through the playoffs, dispatching Plano West,
  Arlington Lamar, Keller Central, and Prosper High Schools to earn
  an eighth all-time trip to the state tournament; posting a
  2-0 decision over Forney High School in the semifinals, Marcus
  advanced to the state final; and
         WHEREAS, On April 12, Marcus took the field against Houston
  Stratford High School with the state title hanging in the balance;
  the Lady Marauders unleashed a stout defense, holding their foe
  scoreless and demonstrating tremendous poise in converting a free
  kick to secure the victory; with the 1-0 triumph, Marcus captured
  the third state crown in program history; and
         WHEREAS, Championship game Most Valuable Player Maddie Hayes
  booted in the winning goal and was joined by Madi Patterson, Ryleigh
  Albin, and Aubrey Tipton on the All-Tournament Team; the Lady
  Marauders also received valuable contributions throughout the year
  from the other members of the roster: Avery Seitz, Drew Kimbrell,
  Sydney Osterloh, Maria Stella Lepore, Gaby Yuoh, Ava Young, Brooke
  Dunbar, Emma Fioretti, Ellie Hernandez, Mary Elena Clark, Madison
  Rakestraw, Hannah Campos, Piper Garcia, Gabi Childress, Annika
  Denning, Zoee Piscitello-Andrews, Zemira Dube, Kate Wiseman,
  Rileigh Roshell, Ellexa McCullough, and Payton Stewart; these
  dedicated student-athletes were ably guided by head coach Erin
  Smith and assistant coaches Kate Holland, Kelsey Dierke, and Emily
  Klein; and
         WHEREAS, With their 2025 state championship victory, the
  Marcus Lady Marauders have burnished their reputation as a soccer
  powerhouse, and all those associated with the squad may indeed
  reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Marcus High School girls'
  soccer team on winning the 2025 UIL 6A Division 2 state championship
  and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
