R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Community Council of South Central Texas is |
|
|
celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding with the Hope in |
|
|
Action Community Luncheon in Seguin on May 15, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established on May 11, 1965, as the Community |
|
|
Council of Comal County, this venerable organization adopted its |
|
|
current name in 1971 to reflect its expanding service area; today, |
|
|
CCSCT supports vulnerable individuals and families in 31 counties |
|
|
in South Central and West Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, CCSCT works to address poverty by empowering |
|
|
low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency; |
|
|
as part of its mission, the organization administers the Special |
|
|
Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children |
|
|
(WIC) and the Head Start school readiness program within its |
|
|
service area; it also sponsors a range of initiatives that provide |
|
|
assistance with housing, utilities, and home weatherization and |
|
|
that expand access to computer technology; moreover, its Veterans |
|
|
Financial Assistance Program offers support to former service |
|
|
members and their families; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For six decades, the Community Council of South |
|
|
Central Texas has made a lasting and positive difference in the |
|
|
lives of area residents, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing |
|
|
the organization on this special milestone in its history; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of the |
|
|
Community Council of South Central Texas and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success with their important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Community Council of South Central Texas as an |
|
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
