R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
  passing of James Roy Marquess on January 26, 2025, at the age of 85;
  and
         WHEREAS, The son of Harry Clyde Marquess and Frances Beatrice
  Rather Marquess, Jim Marquess was born in Temple on September 18,
  1939, and grew up with an older brother, Don; he started school in
  Palacios and attended San Marcos Baptist Military Academy; after
  graduating from Lafayette High School in Louisiana, he earned his
  bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his MBA
  from East Texas State University; he served in the United States Air
  Force Reserve for six years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Marquess was employed in management by three
  Fortune 500 companies before starting his own company; in later
  years, he focused on consulting and helping others establish new
  businesses; after retiring, he centered his life around his
  treasured family and his faith; he shared a fulfilling 40-year
  relationship with his wife, the former Rita Rogers, and he took
  great pride in his six children and six grandchildren; a valued
  member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Marble Falls, he served the
  congregation on a number of boards and commissions; he was also a
  Life Member of the Texas Exes; and
         WHEREAS, Although Jim Marquess is greatly missed, he has left
  his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he will
  forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Roy Marquess and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Rita Rogers Marquess; to his children, Ryan Marquess and his wife,
  Sarah, Debi Gonzalez and her husband, Vidal, Greg Marquess, Tyler
  Marquess, Aimee Whitaker and her husband, Josh, and Kellie Hogan
  and her husband, John; to his grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson,
  Austin, Lucas, Finn, and Harrison; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim
  Marquess.
