WHEREAS, Many proud members of the Dallas Housing Coalition
are visiting the State Capitol on May 6, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2023, the grassroots, nonprofit
coalition unites the efforts of more than 300 organizations and
individuals advocating for the development and preservation of
attainable housing across the Dallas area; it raises awareness of
needs among diverse populations, whether longtime residents or new
families, and with consideration for the particular requirements of
such groups as veterans, working professionals, and people with
  disabilities; and
WHEREAS, The coalition's first initiative was to call for an
investment of $200 million toward housing and homelessness
solutions in the city's May 2024 Bond Program; voters ultimately
approved a historic $82 million across three propositions, enabling
the city to begin leveraging municipal funding with private
investors and other public funding sources for attainable housing
development; the coalition went on to lend its strong support to
ForwardDallas 2.0, the city's comprehensive land use plan update,
which was approved by the city council in September 2024; and
WHEREAS, Currently, the coalition is supporting a number of
reforms at both the state and local levels; among its objectives are
adjustments to parking requirements that hinder affordable housing
development and regulatory change to promote construction of
"missing middle" housing for people of all incomes and at all stages
  of life; and
WHEREAS, In just a few years, the Dallas Housing Coalition
has made a meaningful impact through its commitment to ensuring
that all North Texas residents have a safe, affordable place to
live, and it is truly a pleasure to commend the organization on its
  contributions; now, therefore, be it
