R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Ximena Lopez, a student at La Joya High School, has |
|
distinguished herself as a talented writer, an exceptional student |
|
and athlete, and a valued member of her community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Lopez became Peñitas's youngest and first |
|
female author with the debut of her children's book, Pebbles' World: |
|
Spreading Love & Kindness; all proceeds go to the City of Peñitas |
|
Historical Committee, and she is currently working on her next |
|
manuscript; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Bianca and Rodrigo Lopez, Ms. Lopez |
|
is currently a junior at La Joya High School, where she has excelled |
|
in both academics and athletics; she is a member of the National |
|
Honor Society, the varsity swim team, and the Jewelettes Drill |
|
Team, and among her many accolades, she has been named Rookie of the |
|
Year and Jewelette of the Year; moreover, she was a regional |
|
qualifier in the girls' 100-yard backstroke event as a freshman; |
|
she hopes to one day attend The University of Texas at Austin School |
|
of Law; and |
|
WHEREAS, Outside of school, Ms. Lopez has held various roles |
|
in the City of Peñitas White Wing Royal Court, including Princess of |
|
Inca Dove and pageant ambassador, and she currently holds the title |
|
of 2024-2025 White Wing Queen; as part of her reign, she founded |
|
White Wings of Love and has been involved in numerous service |
|
projects, such as visiting adult day cares and transitional homes |
|
and donating food to a local animal shelter; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ximena Lopez has demonstrated remarkable |
|
initiative, compassion, and dedication in all her endeavors, and |
|
she is a source of great pride to her family and community; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Ximena Lopez for her accomplishments and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
