R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Athena Ella Corey of Americas High School in the |
|
|
Socorro Independent School District has distinguished herself in |
|
|
her responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State |
|
|
Representative Mary E. González; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her internship, Ms. Corey has |
|
|
provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging |
|
|
tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of |
|
|
public service, she has learned more about the legislative process |
|
|
and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A senior at Americas High School, Ms. Corey is an |
|
|
active member of the Libertas Academy, National Honor Society, |
|
|
orchestra, and Blazerettes dance team; she has also participated in |
|
|
robotics and competed in such sports as swimming, volleyball, and |
|
|
track; among her many achievements, she has twice been named to the |
|
|
Texas Dance Educators' Association All-State Dance Team, and she |
|
|
has received Triple A Awards; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Committed to civic engagement, Ms. Corey has |
|
|
volunteered with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and the El |
|
|
Paso Villa Maria women's shelter, where she has supported efforts |
|
|
to uplift vulnerable populations in her community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Athena Ella Corey has performed her duties as a |
|
|
legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Athena Ella Corey for her service as a |
|
|
legislative intern in the office of State Representative |
|
|
Mary E. González and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Corey as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
