R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Lubbock is among the first locations in |
|
the state to earn the "grand slam" of Friendly Texas Certified |
|
Community designations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Awarded by the Texas Economic Development & Tourism |
|
Office within the Office of the Governor, the certifications are |
|
administered by the Texas Film Commission, the Texas Music Office, |
|
and Travel Texas; Lubbock previously garnered the Music Friendly |
|
Texas, the Film Friendly Texas, and Digital Media Friendly Texas |
|
Certified Community designations, and by adding the Tourism |
|
Friendly Texas certification, it has completed all four program |
|
elements; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Friendly Texas initiative provides communities |
|
with training and resources to help spur local job creation and |
|
economic expansion through the growth of the film, music, tourism, |
|
and digital media industries; and |
|
WHEREAS, A place where art, creativity, and opportunities |
|
thrive, Lubbock attracts a wide range of industries and innovators, |
|
and it is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing the city for |
|
receiving these well-deserved designations; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Lubbock on earning the |
|
Friendly Texas Certified Community designations for music, film, |
|
digital media, and tourism and commend all those involved in |
|
securing these recognitions for their efforts; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the City of Lubbock as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
