R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Joy Chanslor has distinguished herself in her |
|
|
responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State |
|
|
Representative Yvonne Davis during the 89th Legislative Session; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Chanslor is a participant in the Texas |
|
|
Legislative Internship Program, which was founded by State Senator |
|
|
Rodney Ellis in December 1990; administered by the Mickey Leland |
|
|
Center on Hunger, Poverty, and World Peace at Texas Southern |
|
|
University, the program provides students from Texas colleges and |
|
|
universities with a unique opportunity to receive academic credit |
|
|
while serving as interns in the Texas Legislature, in various state |
|
|
agencies, and in local government; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Chanslor has provided |
|
|
vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |
|
|
in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public |
|
|
service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the |
|
|
issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A recent graduate, Ms. Chanslor earned a bachelor's |
|
|
degree in political science from Texas Southern University in fall |
|
|
2024; she has previously worked as a staff member for State |
|
|
Representative Jolanda "Jo" Jones and as a community canvasser for |
|
|
Texas Tool Belt; moreover, she has generously given of her time as a |
|
|
volunteer with Project C.U.R.E. and the Houston Food Bank; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joy Chanslor has performed her duties as a |
|
|
legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Joy Chanslor for her service as a |
|
|
legislative intern in the office of State Representative Yvonne |
|
|
Davis and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in |
|
|
all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Chanslor as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
