R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Kerr Arts & Cultural Center in Kerrville has
  hosted the Texas Furniture Makers Show for the past 25 years,
  providing a popular showcase for artists from throughout the state;
  and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1995, the Kerr Arts & Cultural Center is a
  nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting arts education and
  supporting local artists; in 2000, the center created the Texas
  Furniture Makers Show, a juried exhibition and competition that
  highlights the craft of furniture making and encourages new
  participants to enter the field; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, the show takes place over a six-week
  period, from the beginning of November to mid-December, and
  includes more than 50 works from the top artists in Texas; the
  competition is open to professionals and hobbyists, with a special
  category for emerging artists, and a panel of three jurors conducts
  a blind judging process to award more than $10,000 in cash and
  prizes; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Furniture Makers Show has become a
  much-anticipated gathering that enables the public to appreciate
  the works of accomplished artists; the exhibition is open five days
  a week during its run with free admission; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past quarter century, the Texas Furniture
  Makers Show has gained a national reputation as a premier event
  highlighting the art of furniture making, and the show is indeed
  deserving of special recognition for its contributions to the
  craft; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the annual Texas Furniture Makers
  Show hosted by the Kerr Arts & Cultural Center and extend to all
  those associated with the event sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Kerr Arts & Cultural Center as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
