R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Frank Herrera Jr. of San Antonio has demonstrated an |
|
unwavering commitment to justice and to the economic and political |
|
empowerment of the Latino and Texas communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, The founder of the Herrera Law Firm, Mr. Herrera has |
|
pursued a successful career as a fierce protector of the underdog; |
|
he has been an innovator in using courtroom technology in trials, |
|
and he is often consulted by other attorneys for his expertise in |
|
personal injury, insurance fraud, construction accidents, and |
|
labor and employment law; benefiting his profession, he has served |
|
on the board of governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of |
|
America and the board of directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera is chairman of the board and managing |
|
partner of Valiente International Ventures, a holding company for |
|
HERO Assemblers and HERO Logistics; both HERO entities are |
|
award-winning Tier One Suppliers for Toyota Motor Manufacturing |
|
Texas, where Tundra and Sequoia models are manufactured, and they |
|
have been recognized for their commitment to safety and quality in |
|
handling onsite wheel and tire assembly, logistics, and cross dock |
|
operations for Team Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera has given freely of his time and |
|
resources to numerous civic and charitable organizations and |
|
educational institutions, including the St. Mary's University |
|
Alumni Association and San Fernando Historical City Centre |
|
Foundation; among other leadership roles, he has served on the |
|
boards of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, |
|
Central Catholic High School, and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber |
|
of Commerce; in 2013, he was named chair of the board of the New |
|
America Alliance, a group of entrepreneurs and business leaders who |
|
work to increase access to and control of capital among Latinos and |
|
to develop the next generation of leaders; he has donated funds to a |
|
host of community, cultural, and educational organizations as well; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2024, Mr. Herrera received the Texas Trial |
|
Lawyers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2010, he was |
|
honored with the prestigious Ohtli Award from the government of |
|
Mexico; his many accolades further include La Prensa's Fourth |
|
Annual Hispanic Heritage Award for the Legal Profession, the Peter |
|
Torres Jr. Community Service Award from the Hispanic Issues Section |
|
of the State Bar of Texas, and MALDEF's Valerie Kantor Award for |
|
Extraordinary Achievement; and |
|
WHEREAS, A committed champion of justice and the Latino |
|
community, Frank Herrera has earned the admiration and appreciation |
|
of innumerable people through his wide-ranging professional and |
|
civic contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Frank Herrera Jr. for his dedication to |
|
the advancement of the Latino population in San Antonio and beyond |
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Herrera as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
