R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A group of 13 dedicated students from The University
  of Texas Rio Grande Valley has rendered outstanding service to the
  Texas Legislature during the 89th Session as participants in the
  Rio Grande Valley Legislative Internship Program and the Texas
  Legislative Fellowship Program; and
         WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Legislative Internship
  Program, also known as VLIP, offers undergraduate and graduate
  students at UTRGV an opportunity to learn about the legislative
  process and to build valuable real-world experience while putting
  their skills and knowledge to work; each intern is placed with a
  legislative office and receives academic credit for their
  participation; and
         WHEREAS, This year's class of VLIP interns includes Lia
  Cavazos-Garcia, who is working in the office of Representative
  Sergio Muñoz Jr., Venisha Colon in the office of Representative
  Terry Canales, Angela Shekinah Flores in the office of
  Representative Oscar Longoria, Natalie Garcia in the office of
  Senator Adam Hinojosa, Brianna Garza Skurka in the office of
  Representative Armando "Mando" Martinez, Paulina King Benitez in
  the office of Senator Judith Zaffirini, Laela Ovalle in the office
  of Representative R. D. "Bobby" Guerra, Sylvia Giselle Rodriguez in
  the office of Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, Marleen Yvette Salazar
  in the office of Representative Erin Elizabeth Gámez, Samantha
  Sandoval in the office of Representative Janie Lopez, and Randall
  Treviño in the office of Representative Ryan Guillen; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Fellowship Program was
  established by The University of Texas System for the 89th
  Legislative Session; two students from UTRGV participated in the
  internship opportunity, providing valuable service, acumen, and
  knowledge to their respective offices; this year's interns include
  Sophia Lopez, who is working in the office of Lieutenant Governor
  Dan Patrick, and Dua Manganhar in the office of Representative Erin
  Elizabeth Gámez; and
         WHEREAS, The members of these two notable groups have
  performed their duties as legislative interns with great skill and
  diligence, and they are indeed deserving of special recognition for
  their fine work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the participants in the Rio Grande
  Valley Legislative Internship Program and the Texas Legislative
  Fellowship Program for their contributions to the Texas Legislature
  and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  their endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for the interns as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
