R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Greater Houston Frontiers Club Day at the State |
|
|
Capitol is taking place on May 20, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Frontiers Club is a chapter of |
|
|
Frontiers International, which was founded in 1936 by Nimrod B. |
|
|
Allen, a respected leader in the African American community; the |
|
|
organization initially focused on promoting civic engagement among |
|
|
African American men, and it later opened its membership to women; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception nearly three decades ago, the |
|
|
Greater Houston Frontiers Club has awarded over $1 million in |
|
|
scholarships to underserved high school students in Harris County; |
|
|
the volunteer organization has further contributed to the community |
|
|
through events and initiatives such as the annual Dr. Martin Luther |
|
|
King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast, Toys for Kids, Wreaths |
|
|
Across America, and Turkey on Every Table; in addition, it has |
|
|
partnered with a number of other groups to improve the quality of |
|
|
life for area residents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Frontiers Club has made a |
|
|
positive difference in the community and empowered countless young |
|
|
Texans to achieve their full academic potential, and it is a |
|
|
pleasure to join in honoring the organization for its |
|
|
contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 20, 2025, as Greater Houston |
|
|
Frontiers Club Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to |
|
|
the visiting delegation; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Greater Houston Frontiers Club as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
