R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ethicon San Angelo, a Johnson & Johnson MedTech
  manufacturing plant, celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Originally founded as the Johnson Suture Company in
  1921, Ethicon established a plant in San Angelo in 1964; the
  80,000-square-foot facility opened with nearly 150 employees for
  the manufacture of sutures and needles, and by 1980, Ethicon
  sutures were being used in more than 7,500 hospitals; and
         WHEREAS, The footprint of the Ethicon San Angelo plant
  expanded over the years to introduce automation, new products, and
  other innovations; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the San Angelo facility encompasses 305,000
  square feet of manufacturing, production, shipping, and support
  space with approximately 800 direct employees; and
         WHEREAS, Ethicon produces sutures to support 7 out of 10
  surgeries around the world, and the San Angelo site produces
  sutures for almost 3 out of 7 surgeries and manages one-third of
  Ethicon's worldwide Wound Closure and Healing (WCH) surgery volume;
  and
         WHEREAS, Since 1964, the Ethicon San Angelo site has made
  outstanding contributions to the field of medical technology and
  has served as an anchor for the economy of San Angelo and
  surrounding communities, and the company is indeed deserving of
  recognition on this special milestone in its history; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of Ethicon San
  Angelo and extend to all those associated with the business sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
