R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Brenda Diane Calhoun Vaughn of Port Arthur on
  February 23, 2025, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Pastor Verdell Calhoun Sr. and
  Elizabeth Washington, the former Brenda Calhoun was born in
  Torrance, California, on April 17, 1951, and she was blessed with
  the companionship of seven siblings, Grady, Verdell, Mack, Debora
  Kay, Beverly Jean, Yvonne, and Darline; she devoted herself to her
  faith at an early age, and she was a member of her father's
  congregation at St. Luke Baptist Church; in 1969, she graduated
  from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California, and she went
  on to earn a bachelor's degree from Lamar University in Beaumont;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Vaughn shared a fulfilling marriage with her
  husband, the Reverend Randy G. Vaughn, and the couple were the proud
  parents of four children, Lawrence, Brandi, Lionel, and William;
  with the passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her treasured
  family grow to include 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Mrs. Vaughn was
  employed for a number of years as a business retention and expansion
  specialist for the Port Arthur Economic Development Corporation and
  as a deputy municipal court clerk for the City of Port Arthur
  Municipal Court; she later enjoyed a rewarding tenure with American
  Airlines and Envoy Air before serving as a substitute teacher for
  the Port Arthur Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Vaughn ministered alongside her husband at
  Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where she was also a member
  of several choirs, committees, and mission groups; moreover, she
  gave generously of her time and talents to a wide range of local
  civic organizations and charities; and
         WHEREAS, A patient, loving, and humble woman, Brenda Vaughn
  is deeply missed, and those who held her dear will forever remember
  the warmth and kindness she brought into their lives; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Brenda Diane
  Calhoun Vaughn and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Brenda
  Vaughn.
