R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Marco Cunningham of Rapoport Academy in Waco won two |
|
|
gold medals at the 2025 University Interscholastic League Track & |
|
|
Field State Meet to close out his notable high school career; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On May 2, Mr. Cunningham joined the other top 2A |
|
|
competitors at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin; he dominated the |
|
|
3,200-meter field, clocking in at 9:14.94 to triumph by the |
|
|
impressive margin of nearly 44 seconds while recording the |
|
|
second-fastest time ever in the race at the 2A meet; he also |
|
|
collected a gold medal in the 1,600 meters, posting a blistering |
|
|
time of 4 minutes, 19.71 seconds; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In November 2024, Mr. Cunningham set the stage for |
|
|
his success at the state track meet when he clinched the gold medal |
|
|
in the 2A final at the UIL Cross Country State Championships; in |
|
|
addition to his success in athletics, he has distinguished himself |
|
|
academically as one of the top students in his class; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
|
high school track and field athletes, Marco Cunningham has ably |
|
|
represented his school and community, and he will cherish his |
|
|
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Marco Cunningham on winning two |
|
|
gold medals at the 2025 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Cunningham as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
