R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Denise Elaine Marshall of
  Cedar Park suffered an immeasurable loss with her death on
  December 15, 2024, at the age of 63; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Ralph Marshall and Waveline Baker
  Marshall, Denise Marshall was born in Piqua, Ohio, on August 9,
  1961; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Marshall was employed as an x-ray technician and
  mammographer for more than three decades; in her free time, she
  enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and arts and crafts; and
         WHEREAS, In 2014, Ms. Marshall was diagnosed with Stage IV
  lung cancer, and she was given less than a 10 percent chance of a
  year's survival; she spent 10 months in hospice care during 2016,
  but despite the many challenges of her illness, she lived another
  decade after her diagnosis, all the while maintaining a positive
  outlook; dedicated to helping others as well, she became an
  advocate for lung cancer awareness, increased research funding, and
  expanded screening for people at high risk; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Marshall found her greatest fulfillment in
  raising her beloved daughter, Corrine Richardson, who served as her
  caregiver for 10 years; her fondest hope was to see her daughter
  return to her studies and complete her bachelor's degree; in May
  2024, Ms. Richardson graduated from The University of Texas at
  Austin, and Ms. Marshall's sister, Shelia, traveled from Ohio to
  join in celebrating this joyous milestone; Ms. Marshall's family
  circle also included her sweet canine companion, Gus; and
         WHEREAS, Although Denise Marshall is deeply missed by those
  she left behind, they will continue to find inspiration in her
  courage, compassion, and determination to make a positive
  difference in the lives of others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Denise Elaine
  Marshall and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family: to her daughter, Corrine Belle Richardson; to her sister,
  Shelia Marshall Eckert; and to her other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Denise
  Marshall.
