R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Judith Gosnell Cavender of San Antonio on May 14, 2025,
  at the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of the Reverend Harold C. Gosnell and
  Marjorie Adams Gosnell, the former Judy Gosnell was born in
  Syracuse, New York, on March 25, 1935, and she grew up with the
  companionship of a brother, Hal; after moving to Lincoln, Nebraska,
  her family eventually settled in San Antonio, where she attended
  Alamo Heights High School; upon her graduation, she enrolled in the
  Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin and
  joined the Pi Beta Phi women's fraternity; and
         WHEREAS, While in college, she met the love of her life, Jimmy
  Cavender; the couple married in 1954 and shared a fulfilling union
  that spanned 62 years until his passing in 2016; Mrs. Cavender took
  great pride in her three sons, Mark, Rick, and Stephen, and with the
  passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her treasured family
  grow to include four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Cavender gave
  generously of her time and talents to such organizations as the
  Charity Ball Association, the Junior League of San Antonio,
  Morningside Ministries, the Children's Service Bureau, and the San
  Antonio Literacy Council; moreover, she chaired the Texas
  Biomedical Forum Gala before going on to serve as its president; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Cavender was a valued
  member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where she served on the altar
  guild, participated in weekly Bible studies, and chaired the Lenten
  Luncheon Committee; in her leisure hours, she enjoyed cooking and
  playing bridge, and she made many happy memories hosting family and
  friends at the Cavender Ranch in Leakey; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her elegance, her warmth, and her
  creativity, Judy Cavender brightened the world for all who knew
  her, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Judith Gosnell
  Cavender and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family: to her sons, Mark Cavender and his wife, Susan, Rick
  Cavender and his wife, Suzanne, and Stephen Cavender and his wife,
  Kelly; to her grandchildren, Courtney Cavender Smith and her
  husband, Tobin, Claire Cavender McNab and her husband, Easton,
  Brooks McCullough Cavender, and Kate Cavender Dawson and her
  husband, Taylor; to her great-grandchildren, Ramsey and Calder
  Smith, Isabella and Miles McNab, and Jamie and Liza Dawson; to her
  brother, Hal Gosnell; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judy
  Cavender.
