R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 75th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and Maria Angela Flores Beck of Fayette
  County is marking this significant milestone in her life on May 31,
  2025; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Francisco J. Flores Sr. and Maria
  Ernestina Saldaña Flores, the former Angela Flores was born in
  1950, and she grew up with the companionship of eight siblings,
  Maria Teresa, Francisco Jr., Jose, Miguel, Tina, Mary Esther,
  Adela, and Lulu; after graduating from Ursuline Academy, she
  completed her bachelor's degree with high honors at The University
  of Texas at Austin and went on to earn her juris doctor degree from
  UT Law; and
         WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, the Honorable Dan
  Beck, and the couple shared a fulfilling relationship until Judge
  Beck's passing in 2015; they became the parents of a son, John
  Francis Beck, and Mrs. Flores Beck's blended family also includes
  two stepchildren, Saxon and Amber; through the years, she has known
  the joy of becoming the proud grandmother of Addie Kate and Emmy
  Rose, and she has many step-grandchildren as well; and
         WHEREAS, During the Dolph Briscoe administration,
  Mrs. Flores Beck worked in the governor's equal employment
  opportunity office, and while completing law school, she served as
  State Representative Irma Rangel's first chief of staff; early in
  her legal career, she was employed as a briefing attorney for a
  federal district court judge in Houston and as an assistant U.S.
  attorney for the Southern District of Texas; she was a founder of
  the Law Offices of Sinderson, Daffin, Flores, and Stool, a
  pioneering all-female firm, and she established the Law Office of
  Angela Flores Beck in La Grange; over the years, she has served as
  city attorney for La Grange, Carmine, and Flatonia; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Flores Beck has given generously of her time
  and talents in behalf of her fellow citizens; she was the first
  woman and first Latina to serve as chair of the Lower Colorado River
  Authority; in addition, she is the former executive director of the
  Fayette County Democratic Party; and
         WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
  know her, Angela Flores Beck may reflect with pride on a lifetime of
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Angela Flores Beck on the joyous
  occasion of her 75th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Flores Beck as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
