R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Rishi Tirumalasetty of Katy has distinguished |
|
|
himself through his exceptional performance at the Texas State |
|
|
Finals of the National Civics Bee on May 17, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The National Civics Bee operates under the umbrella |
|
|
of The Civic Trust, which was founded by the U.S. Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce Foundation as an educational initiative dedicated to |
|
|
enhancing civic literacy, skills, and participation; the annual |
|
|
competition is open to middle school students from across the |
|
|
country, who are tested on their knowledge of American history, |
|
|
government, and civic participation through written essays, |
|
|
multiple-choice questions, and oral responses to various prompts; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An eighth-grade student at Katy Junior High School, |
|
|
Mr. Tirumalasetty qualified for the Texas State Finals after |
|
|
placing second at the Katy Area Civics Bee; he subsequently |
|
|
advanced to the Texas State Finals, where his first-place finish |
|
|
has earned him the opportunity to represent the state at the |
|
|
National Civics Bee Championship in November; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rishi Tirumalasetty has demonstrated exceptional |
|
|
ability and determination in the pursuit of his goals, and he is a |
|
|
source of great pride for his family and his school; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rishi Tirumalasetty on winning |
|
|
first place at the 2025 Texas State Finals of the National Civics |
|
|
Bee and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Tirumalasetty as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
