R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Liberty Bar in San Antonio is celebrating the 40th
  anniversary of its opening in July 2025, providing a fitting
  opportunity to recognize the acclaimed restaurant's owner, Dwight
  Hobart; and
         WHEREAS, Hailing from the Texas Panhandle, Timothy Dwight
  Hobart was raised at his family's ranch northeast of Amarillo; he
  attended The University of Texas at Austin before dropping out in
  1962 to work at the Seattle World's Fair; while serving in the U.S.
  Marine Corps Reserve, he earned a degree in Russian language and
  literature from Boston University, and he later studied at Indiana
  University and the University of California, Berkeley; his varied
  career included employment as a wire service photographer based in
  Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War, and his photos were also
  published in Rolling Stone magazine; and
         WHEREAS, After settling in San Antonio, Mr. Hobart joined
  with chef Drew Allen to open Liberty Bar in 1985; originally located
  on Josephine Street near the former Pearl Brewery, the restaurant
  quickly became known for its eclectic charm and homemade breads,
  pastries, and pastas, and it attracted customers from across the
  city; Mr. Allen passed away in 1995, but Mr. Hobart continued the
  business; in 2010, Liberty Bar moved to its current location in a
  multistory pink building in Southtown that once housed the
  St. Scholastica Convent; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Liberty Bar has
  gained a large and loyal following and earned the status of a
  treasured community institution, and Dwight Hobart may indeed
  reflect with pride on his restaurant's long history and many
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Dwight Hobart for his contributions to
  the San Antonio community as the owner of Liberty Bar and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hobart as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
