R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Citizens of Horseshoe Bay are celebrating the 20th |
|
anniversary of their city's incorporation in 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Located along Lake Lyndon B. Johnson at the junction |
|
of southeastern Llano County and southwestern Burnet County, |
|
Horseshoe Bay was originally used as ranchland before cousins Wayne |
|
and Norman Hurd began developing it into a lakeshore resort area in |
|
the 1970s; its population grew to consist primarily of retirees and |
|
resort-goers, and on September 10, 2005, citizens incorporated and |
|
elected the first mayor and city council; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since its founding, Horseshoe Bay has blossomed into |
|
a vibrant and thriving community, demonstrating remarkable |
|
progress in areas such as economic development, cultural |
|
enrichment, environmental sustainability, and tourism, and it had |
|
the distinction of being named the 2023 Scenic City of the Year by |
|
the Texas Municipal League; today, the city boasts many |
|
recreational amenities, including three 18-hole golf courses, a |
|
marina, and a yacht club; and |
|
WHEREAS, The people of Horseshoe Bay have shown unwavering |
|
dedication, resilience, and community spirit, and in so doing, they |
|
have contributed to their city's success and have made it a |
|
wonderful place to live, work, and visit; and |
|
WHEREAS, With its rich history and the promise of a bright |
|
future on the horizon, Horseshoe Bay has much to offer to residents |
|
and guests alike, and the community indeed merits recognition as it |
|
celebrates this significant milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding |
|
of Horseshoe Bay and recognize its citizens, past and present, for |
|
embodying the true spirit of the Lone Star State; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the City of Horseshoe Bay as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
