R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cynthia Van Maanen has ably served her fellow Texans
  as chief of staff in the office of State Representative Trey
  Martinez Fischer during the 89th Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Since becoming a legislative employee, Ms. Van
  Maanen has contributed to the workings of state government
  firsthand; handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, she has
  provided vital leadership and helped ensure the efficient operation
  of the representative's office; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Van Maanen has earned the respect and admiration
  of her colleagues for her extensive knowledge of policy and
  parliamentary procedure, and she has distinguished herself as a
  supportive mentor to younger staff members; she is a former
  executive director of the Travis County Democratic Party, and
  during the 85th and 87th Legislative Sessions, she was a
  legislative director and policy analyst in the office of State
  Representative Lina Ortega; in addition, she has worked as a policy
  advisor for Austin mayor pro tem Delia Garza as well as a business
  process specialist in the City of Austin's Small and Minority
  Business Resources Department; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Van Maanen has been
  involved in the Austin chapter of New Leaders Council, where she
  served as curriculum chair in 2021; she was also the District 3
  commissioner in the 2024 Charter Review Commission for the City of
  Austin; she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the
  University of North Texas and a master's degree in political
  science from Binghamton University; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed public employee has performed her
  duties as chief of staff with skill and dedication, and she is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Cynthia Van Maanen for her service as
  chief of staff in the office of State Representative Trey Martinez
  Fischer and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
  in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Van Maanen as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
