R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sydney Shifflett has distinguished herself in her |
|
|
responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State |
|
|
Representative Joanne Shofner during the 89th Legislative Session; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff through The University of |
|
|
Texas System Legislative Fellowship Program, Ms. Shifflett has |
|
|
provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging |
|
|
tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of |
|
|
public service, she has learned more about the legislative process |
|
|
and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Shifflett is a junior at Stephen F. Austin State |
|
|
University, where she is pursuing a degree in criminal justice; |
|
|
actively involved with her campus community, she is an officer of |
|
|
the Pre-Law Society, a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and a |
|
|
mentor for incoming students majoring in government; moreover, she |
|
|
has given generously of her time as a volunteer for the Family |
|
|
Crisis Center of East Texas, and she plans to work for the |
|
|
Nacogdoches County Adult Probation department in fall 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sydney Shifflett has performed her duties as a |
|
|
legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Sydney Shifflett for her service as a |
|
|
legislative intern in the office of State Representative Joanne |
|
|
Shofner and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
|
in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Shifflett as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
