R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Energy Council is celebrating its 50th |
|
anniversary in 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize |
|
the organization for its many achievements; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established as the Southwest Regional Energy |
|
Council in 1975, the organization serves as a forum for state |
|
legislators to collaborate on energy and environmental policy; the |
|
organization's original five oil-producing member states are |
|
Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico, and over the |
|
years, it has expanded to include West Virginia, Mississippi, |
|
Alabama, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and Alaska, |
|
as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Energy Council has played an instrumental role |
|
in shaping state and federal policies related to oil and gas and to |
|
other energy sources such as coal, wind, solar, batteries, |
|
hydrogen, nuclear, and geothermal, as well as to emerging |
|
technologies such as carbon capture and artificial intelligence, |
|
all of which provide the basis for strong, reliable grids and a |
|
thriving energy sector; today, the organization benefits from the |
|
able leadership of its chair, Texas State Representative Drew |
|
Darby; and |
|
WHEREAS, For five decades, The Energy Council has supported |
|
sustainable energy practices and economic growth in |
|
energy-producing states, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring |
|
the organization on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Energy |
|
Council and extend to all those affiliated with the organization |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for The Energy Council as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
