R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Marquis Hill has been named the recipient of a |
|
|
Legacy Beyond a Lifetime Award by the Wise Up to Rise Up Foundation, |
|
|
which is hosting its Winner's Circle 2025 event in Katy on August 2, |
|
|
2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Wise Up to Rise Up Foundation is dedicated to |
|
|
empowering underserved youth; through mentorship, recognition |
|
|
programs, motivational events, and creative community |
|
|
partnerships, it encourages young people to reach their full |
|
|
potential; its Winner's Circle 2025 event welcomes students from |
|
|
across both the Katy and the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School |
|
|
Districts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After a heart condition brought his basketball |
|
|
career to a close, Mr. Hill dedicated himself to inspiring others |
|
|
through his work as a motivational speaker, author, and |
|
|
entrepreneur; he is the founder of Love Yaself Company, which |
|
|
challenges young people to recognize their self worth and reach |
|
|
their full potential; in addition to speaking to students at Katy |
|
|
ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, and Harmony Public Schools, he has traveled |
|
|
across the country to deliver his message to a wide range of |
|
|
audiences, including those at Disney, Discover, the U.S. Department |
|
|
of Justice, Chicago Public Schools, and Morehouse College; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his accomplishments and contributions, |
|
|
Marquis Hill embodies the ideals of the Wise Up to Rise Up |
|
|
Foundation, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing him on this |
|
|
occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Marquis Hill on receiving the |
|
|
Legacy Beyond a Lifetime Award from the Wise Up to Rise Up |
|
|
Foundation and commend him for participating in the organization's |
|
|
Winner's Circle 2025 event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Hill as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
